Perfect Song for a Perfect Boy

Rhys

A song dedicated to Liverpool schoolboy Rhys Jones is set to be a major hit after Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy agreed his supermarket chain would distribute the track. The release will include poignant poems written by Rhys dad about his beloved son. Steve and Mel Jones have given their permission to include the poems, recited by Liverpool actor Paul Codman.

The song ‘Perfect Day’ has been recorded by one of LIPA’s star students, Beverley Keenan, who was born and brought up in Liverpool just a few miles from Rhys’ home.

Proceeds from the sale of the track, due to be released in December, will go to the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund which wants to build a community facility in memory of the 11 year old, tragically killed in Liverpool last year as he made his way home from a football practice. His death stunned the country, with Prime Minister Gordon Brown describing Rhys’ death as a ‘heinous crime that shocked the whole of the country’.
